Weekend Wonders: Simple Sundays

There's nothing like a quiet afternoon catching up on your favorite magazines with a cup of coffee by your side. Having a three-day weekend affords me this luxury, and while many of my peers are busy running errands or preparing for an early Sunday Funday, I'm perfectly content (for now) nestled on the couch. After a long, (partially stressful?) first week of spring semester, I needed this. Sometimes, the best way to accomplish your goals during the day is to take the time to decompress. Shutting off your phone, resisting the urge to check your Twitter/Facebook and turning off that mental to-do list of things like "I MUST run 5 miles at the gym today" or "I need to pick up a binder for that editing class" is key to balancing your time set aside to relax. I'll admit, without a sand or the sound of ocean waves, I wasn't very good at this at first (I sometimes feel guilty if I'm not working on some project or another), but practice makes perfect. Try to read a book, or even go for a walk - just attempt to do something other than the easy-out of watching t.v. for an hour. Adding notes of simplicity in your life (especially if you really do have a complicated schedule) is overwhelmingly worthwhile to incorporate into your weekly habits, for the sake of your health and others.

Weekend Wonders: Dinner & Drinks

With the blissful change of fall weather in the air, it's hard not to feel like celebrating. I even heard Christmas music out last night and haven't been able to stop smiling since.

Tonight I'm due for dinner and drinks with the girls, and in my anticipation I've already created my outfit inspiration. What I would do for the entire ensemble. Oh la la indeed.

Dress: Alice By Temperley Cocktail Sequined Mesh Dress
Shoes: Rupert Sanderson Inferno Ankle Boots
Bag: ChloƩ Rachel Bow Clutch

Drink: Authentic Mojito
10 fresh mint leaves
1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges
2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste
1 cup ice cubes
1 1/2 fluid ounces white rum
1/2 cup club soda

Begin by placing the mint leaves and one lime wedge into a glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice. Add two more lime wedges and the sugar, then muddle again to release the lime juice.
Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.
